Review of Minions (2015) by Jason S — 22 Dec 2015
As sidekicks to super villain Gru in Despicable Me, the Minions became a pop culture phenomenon. Their brand of gibberish slapstick often stole the show from the main story in those films, so it was only a matter of time before they got their own movie.
As is so often the case with the things, the sidekicks are in that position for a reason; if there were enough jokes to fill a feature for a supporting character - or characters as is the case here, they would have had their own already. So Minions, while at times very funny, too often feels padded out and stretched to fill in an overlong running time with one joke repeated.
So the plot is pretty thin, but of course, everyone loves the zany, manic, colourful Minions; which is all that will really matter.
