Review of Minions (2015) by Tanya L — 06 Mar 2016
I really did like the opening of this film, which played out like a nature documentary, telling the history of the Minions starting with the the time of dinosaurs, to Dracula, to other villains of history and fiction, complete with "The Gods Must Be Crazy" like narration.
It was clever and witty, but the rest of the film is a bit of a slog. The film is only occasionally funny and is more often simply annoying. I did like the idea of the Minions searching for a new villain to serve, and I did like the family of crooks they hitch a ride with to the "Villains' Convention.
" Sadly, the film really doesn't do much with the idea and we're left mostly with Three Stooges-like slapstick comedy with the annoying little creatures who only speak in their own irritating made-up language.
I'd suggest skipping this one.
