Review of Mine (2016) by Andrea E — 10 Jan 2019
Though the movie was fiction I thought it was really good. After his fellow Marine Tommy steps on a mine, Mike also immediately does too. Tommy dies from his injuries. It's pretty sad because Tommy just wants to talk/be back home with his young son.
Mike is devastated, but reality sets in ie, survival. Mike was pretty much abandoned by the military for what 52 hours? Mike was able to reach the military phone by Tommy's body, but Mike's foot was on a mine the whole time.
There were visits from a native man to Mike, thru that desert...and imaginary visits from the man's daughter. I believe the producers had Mike go thru deep life lessons to get him thru the ordeal.
As you'd guess, survive there without water, food and shelter. He makes it back to his girl in the US, a changed man for the better. I guess some think the movie was long, drawn out (worth watching to the end) & maybe far fetching.
...Made me more mindful of our brave military men & women who keep us safe. As well as personal family that served. Good job, I think.
