Review of Mindhunters (2004) by George E — 15 Aug 2010
A very underrated and overlooked film. This is a brilliantly made psychological thriller. I love whodunit films, but most aren't made right (some are way too horror-ish and some are boring crime films).
This film was suspenseful and fun to watch. It didn't made me think "whoah, why is it now acting like a horror film" and "boring, it's turning into a crime movie". It stayed what it is: a thriller.
Too bad it was falsely advertised as a mindless action-horror film (and it STILL is). Take a look at its awful posters and the trailer! This film was nothing like that. That's why I've avoided it, because of its advertising.
Always thought it was a Die Hard meets Scream or something, when it wasn't. This isn't a horror film (only if you count death scenes horror), nor is it action (maybe if you count shooting action).
This IS a suspense whodunit thriller. The twist ending was smart. I loved how it had two twists (like, one after another). A very smart thing from the writer, really.
