Review of Mind Game (2004) by Alex V — 25 Jan 2011
8.0/10 --.
One of the strangest anime out there, "Mind Game" is bursting at the seams with exuberance and imagination. It utilizes a large number of art styles, many of which can feel uncomfortable at first, but once the ball gets rolling you just go with it. It's themes of taking advantage of all life has to offer, is handled so well (read: manically) that despite one absolutely disorienting (read: exciting and surreal and strangely uplifting) finale sequence, you'll leave with a smile plastered all over your face. Ballsy film making at it's ballsiest.
