Review of Mimic: Sentinel (2003) by Teija R — 21 Nov 2009
Mimic 3 was made by a director who tried far too hard to make an art-house horror film and completely missed the point as to why the original two were such good fun.
The plot is a complete rip-off of Alfred Hitchcocks Rear Window, we have 24 year old man who is confined to his bedroom as he once suffered from the infamous Stricklers decise, the reason the Judas Breed cockroaches were created. He spend shis time looking out his window at the neighbours and taking pictures of them. He stumbles across some murders which we find out are commited by the Giant Judas Breed cockroaches so himself, his sister and his girlfriend try to save the way. Numerous scenes are lifted directly from rear window but that isn't the real issue, the main issue is how a director could think that such a slow moving film would be a good addition to a B-Movie series that was full of action and gore? It's painfully slow at the beginning and then ends just as it's getting started. Plenty of plot holes and implausibilities exists which brings the whole experience down even more.
Decent action and the occasional good effects shot can't make up for the utter boredom of watching Mimic 3.
