Review of Millions (2005) by Zac M — 30 Mar 2009
Seeing that "Slumdog Millionaire" is being released on DVD today, I figured it would be very appropriate to share my opinion of "Millions". This film has most likely been overlooked by the masses which is very unfortunate as it is a great piece of work which should be viewed by just about everyone.
I'm a huge fan of director Danny Boyle, he never dissapoints and I love the variety of work he has done over the years. The film's screenplay was written by Frank Cottrell Boyce, though I haven't had the pleasure of viewing any other films based on his screenplays, I definitely will check some of them out.
This movie is executed extremely well from the casting of Alex Etel, the directing of Boyle, and writing of Boyce, it all delivers a heart warming message very well. Etel does a stellar job performing as "Damian" a young and very imaginative boy who stumbles upon a large quantity of money(in pounds sterling) and he must decide what to do with it before the currency of the nation is transferred into Euros.
The film demonstrates a test of faith and human nature at it's best which displays the variations of love and greed from a child's perspective as well as an adults. This is an excellent film and I would highly recommend it to anyone willing to watch it, and if you enjoyed any of Danny Boyle's work you'll definitely love this film.
