Review of Millions (2005) by Jay L — 25 Feb 2012
~~"What are you looking for?".
~~"Money....".
It's the British version of the American film Blank Check, except it's much, much more imaginative and original. Straight from the brilliant mind of Director Danny Boyle (The Beach, Sunshine, Slumdog Millionaire) Millions is rock solid, an endlessly kinetic thrill ride through vast amounts of imagination. It's a film that will bring the inner child out in all of us, Danny Boulder proves once again why he is one of my favorite directors and one of the most talented and visceral directors in modern filmmaking. This was a change of pace for Boyle who rose to fame with dark and edgy films such as "Trainspotting" and "Shallow Grave" He unleashed the child in himself and delivered one of the most spectacular childrens films that I have seen. It's endlessly kinetic, wickedly entertaining, flat-out hypnotizing, astonishingly imaginative, brilliantly conveyed and searingly original, a compelling whirlwind of cinematic mastery that had me absolutely glued to the Tv. Boyle likes to tell his stories through movement and motion, and Millions is one of the most kinetic films in his resume, of you watch a film that Boyle is involved in you will notice, of your paying attention, that the camera or the background never stops moving, it's a signature trademark of his, and one that im a sucker for. Millions is a wonderously joyful and enigmatic adventure that has a supreme amount of originality to it. Awesome.
The acting is wonderful, it features many performances by some rather talented young actors and actresses. Alex Etel is magnificent throughout in the lead. James Nesbitt is great as well.
