Like a punch that comes heavy and unexpectedly, Million Dollar Baby stuns with its realistic and moving tale about bravery and ambition that may sometimes lead to horrible situations. The strongest quality of the movie comes from the pitch perfect performance by Hilary Swank (Oscar worthy role) as the strong and arrogant young boxer with huge aspirations.
Clint Eastwood as her trainer is also believable. Even though the storyline is rather simple, it spellbinds with its depth, sad climax, and emphasis put on private, as well as work-related, relationships that change gradually as all involved people seem to change.
