Clint Eastwood's engrossing, extremely moving human drama about an aging fight trainer and boxing gym owner named Frankie Dunn, played by Clint Eastwood, in a marvelous performance that earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor, he runs the gym with his best friend and former boxing student Eddie 'Scrap-Iron' Dupris, played brilliantly by Morgan Freeman, who won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his memorable turn here.
Dunn reluctantly takes on a 31-year-old female boxer, Maggie Fitzgerald, played by Hilary Swank, in an extraordinary tour-de-force performance that won her a richly deserved Academy Award for Best Actress, as his newest client and is soon won over by her heart, determination and true fighting skill.
An entertaining, honest look at emotionally wounded people who find confront in each other's protection. Masterful Academy Award winning direction by Clint Eastwood, who also wrote the film's exquisite score.
Oscar winner for Best Picture, Best Director: Clint Eastwood, Best Actress: Hilary Swank, and Best Supporting Actor: Morgan Freeman. An emotional powerhouse. Highly Recommended.
