Review of Million Dollar Baby (2004) by Carl W — 20 May 2012
Clint Eastwood's follow up to 'Mystic River' is a magnificent, a brilliant tale of a female boxer (Hilary Swank), who is driven by an old fight trainer (Clint Eastwood), and an ex-boxer (Morgan Freeman).
This film, and The Aviator will probably be the head runners for best picture this year even though I thought Sideways was better than both of them, but still Million Dollar Baby is a true masterpiece, and Hilary Swank is amazing, she would be my choice for best actress, she pushes the charater, and builds a great one at that, and of course, Clint gives extraordinary directing, and makes all of his actors give top knock performances.
Freeman's charater is the narrator of the story, which oddly seems like just his voice added alot to the film, there is a part in the film, where Freeman has a very emotional part, and it makes you want to cheer.
Without a doubt one of the year's best.
