Review of Million Dollar Arm (2014) by Peter D — 31 Jul 2014
The movie is based on a true story, in which sports agent DB Sir helped two Indian baseball players realize their American dreams. Although the plot is quite predictable, I found it very inspirational and engaging.
DB Sir and Brenda represent two distinctive types of personality. Oddly enough, I see myself having both of them at different points of time. DB Sir is a typical American businessman who's ambitious, target-oriented and impatient. Very frequently, if not always, he places his business interests in front of everything, including friendship and love. Brenda is a laid-back doctor who has high emotional intelligence. Similar to what I strive to do, Brenda likes following routines in life and is also a runner and yoga enthusiast. She is definitely a competitive person but exhibits more human touch than DB Sir does. Therefore, in some sense Brenda is a more mature version of DB Sir and is also the type I should learn from and even emulate.
