Review of Miller's Crossing (1990) by Carlos R — 16 Sep 2010
A fascinating, thrilling and incredible piece of cinema. It looks (except for the color), it feels, and it's definitely exactly like a 40's or a 50's film. It's got a classic style in every scene, every performance and every aspect, and only the Coen's could have done that.
The plot is amazing, the intrigue and the suspense never stopped. There were also very complete and perfectly constructed characters. The performances were brilliant, specially Byrne, Polito and Turturro.
It's a mafia film excellent in every way, and its quality level is so high, that I dare to say it's not very far in terms of quality and greatness from The Godfather films.
