Review of Millennium Actress (2002) by Eryn D — 25 Jan 2010

Surprised I haven't rated this before. Definitely my favourite Kon film. The words "unique" and "original" don't feel nearly enough to describe just how inventive the storytelling is in this film.

Kon takes full advantage of the medium of animation to tell a woman's life story in a way that couldn't be easily done with other mediums. Has an engaging female lead, interesting characters in the men who are interviewing/filming her, and a really engaging yarn that would be interesting even without the innovative way that it's told.

I don't have enough good words for this film. It may be hard for some to understand, but I would still very much recommend it.
