Review of Millennium Actress (2002) by Damien K — 06 Jul 2012
Satoshi Kon yet again proves he has been one of the most innovative and creative storytellers in animation. This beautiful story of an aging actress telling her story and experiences as an actress within japan is heavily borrowed and adapted in big fish (2003).
Kon's film is one of the grandest love letters to historical japanese cinema and style with his actress Chiyoko appearing in several notable genres while simultaneously and seamlessly blending her life's story to each film heroines dialogue and actions, This is a gorgeous movie to look at, creative and really (and successfully) aims for the audiences heart.
Wonderful.
