I hate to say this on a movie that has a percent this high, but I didn't end up enjoying the film that much and I felt that this was overhyped in my opinion. It just wasn't directed with enough emotion and flair to get me to care that much about the story and characters.

Sean Penn did do good here and he almost looks exactly like the real Harvey Milk, but his performance had a little too much hype going for it and I felt it could have been stronger and more memorable, I feel he did better on I Am Sam than he did here.

Another big problem the movie had was that the script was just mostly forgettable and there were moments that could have been more interesting and more emotional in my opinion because you just got all these boring forgettable scenes.

There would be an emotional moment starting to happen but the scene would end too quickly thus me not being able to savour the moment long enough. The film had too much gay sex in my opinion and they really could have cut down on those moments instead of the filmmakers trying to shove it down our throats that these people are gay because some of those scenes were just there for the unlikely sake of hoping to try to entertain.

Most of the supporting cast I could care less about because they didn't end up having a memorable enough screen presence in my humble opinion. Josh Brolin's performance was good and he is part of the reason why I didn't end up seeing the film as complete dog crap.

James Franco I felt was wasted here because he didn't have much to do here. There are people that say this is the best film of 2008 and I am completely fine with that and I'm not going to be insulting to those who say that, but that is not what I say about the movie because The Dark Knight in my opinion is the best film of 2008 and that film kicks this movie's ass.

In the end, I have to be completely honest and say that I thought the movie was bad and that it disappointed me dearly and it didn't end up having much of an impact on me at all and it's not the emotionally captivating experience that most people are saying that it is in my opinion.
