Sean Penn gives a superb performance as gay rights activist Harvey Milk.
The film is somewhat uneven at times, but is mainly carried by Penn's performance.
James Franco and Emile Hirsch also turn in stellar performances. I think Milk might try to hard to send its message. Unfortunately, the people they are trying to send a message to will never change their mind.
That being said, I think now is a perfect time for a film like Milk to be made.
