Review of Miles Ahead (2016) by Danburrito — 26 Apr 2016
Miles Ahead is a stylish, honourable tribute to a Jazz legend that's as intriguing and unpredictable as its subject's own compositions. Don Cheadle was outstanding. He genuinely looked and sounded exactly like the real Miles Davis.
If he isn't nominated for an Oscar next year, I'll be shocked. Going in, I was a bit nervous about the fictionalised frame story (which has Davis searching for a stolen tape that was stolen from him by a shifty record producer) but even that didn't bother me at all.
FINAL VERDICT: Miles Ahead is a worthy biopic of an influential Jazz pioneer, with Don Cheadle in fine form. Reccomended for fans of Davis and Cheadle.
