Review of Miles Ahead (2016) by Michael D — 04 May 2016
Directed, screenplay, and star is Don Cheadle, who might have gotten a little full of himself. Cheadle normally gives subtle, nuanced performances, but this is anything but, as Miles is depicted as a whispering, addicted, troubled, compulsive man with no real explanation of the why.
The story is common, violent, and predictable. All in all, this might be an accurate depiction, but it's boring. Ewan McGregor sleepwalks through his normal role as the punching bag foil. Unnutritious film best left unseen.
