What a disappointment after watching Lone Survivor. It's as if the only way this movie got its way unto the big screen is big of Wahlberg. He's a talented actor and has a good reputation with the public. So STX Productions had to hire big name actors such as Wahlberg and John Malkovich (I can't recall the last big movie he was in).

The introduction suggests Wahlberg's character as highly intelligent and Malkovich's character as the leader running the entire special agent's task. Other than Malkovich's voice, his screen lines and acting was deplorable. Was he hurting that bad for a role that obviously someone with even a little talent would have done better he?

My biggest problems with the movie was the fact that Wahlberg's character was described as highly intelligent but in the end he was stupid. He talked too much. He had an ego problem (recall how he asked the triple agent if what he was doing was because he had an ego? Ironic, I think not, rather poorly written). Wahlberg's character did nothing to protect his team. So what if he spouted off a bunch of stuff he read, which had nothing to do about anything. While time was ticking to solve the bomb de-activate algorithm his character is busy trying to make the IT professional feel like crap and his character makes untrue statements about Mark Zuckerberg. The more I write about this god-awful movie the more I beginning to wonder if the entire point of the movie is to show some type of satire. Why belittle another team member, make her feel like crap, make her worry if she doesn't do her job she kills 60,000 innocent people? In the end, Wahlberg's character was the "Lone Survivor" but not as a hero but as a lunatic, eccentric, narcissist, egotistical guy who couldn't get past his own insecurities or trust issues and essentially failed the mission. I will not watch a sequel, which the end makes it appear is a possibility. STX Productions an American company but working with Beijing, China. STX Productions trying sticking with producing movies that actually benefit the moviegoer. Not that it matters but since you watched Mile 22 or want to see it; Coca-Cola owns 1% stake in STX Productions.
