Crawford's comeback performance after a few years in the doldrum's this was a classic part which may well have been written for her. Good supporting cast too especially Eve Arden as the cynnical best friend and Ann Blyth as the socially ambitious, obnoxious slut of a daughter.
Powerful stuff.
