Review of Mildred Pierce (1945) by Devin B — 25 Feb 2008
Joan Crawford strains herself for that Oscar and does it with one of the best performances to date. The soap opera feel of the movie is lifted off its hinges with an ensemble cast serving as a tour de force.
It's immediately eye-catching from the first scene: brilliant flashbacks, a sweeping love story, and a bitchy ass want-it-all daughter. What more could you ask for? Ingenious.
