Review of Mildred Pierce (1945) by Mark S — 17 Dec 2009
An excellent film noir smartly directed by Michael Curtiz and based on a story by James M. Cain, who also wrote The Postman Always Rings Twice and Double Indemnity. Joan Crawford is surprisingly good in her 'comeback' role and was deserving of her Best Actress Oscar for her portrayal of Mildred.
Eve Arden is noteworthy as her spoilt bitch of a daughter.
