A brilliant absorbing & enthralling portrayal of woman in a man's world & what she does to keep her family intact.
Joan Crawford was a sensation as Mildred Pierce & throughly deserved her Oscar in 1945. The film's style & feel is unmistakably Noir but it's only second to a great compelling story with rich characters.
It covers so much in only 110 minutes, it deals with issues & themes very ahead of 1945 & all the acting is top knotch. I found myself fascinated by the film & it completely draws you in, an essential classic & a female film & performance of a lifetime.
