Review of Mikey and Nicky (1976) by Jonathan P — 22 Jun 2007
It's tempting to think of this movie as Cassavetes-lite, with less psychological ambiguity and clearer plot structure than his movies typically have, but if we're going to be honest, I have to admit I liked it more than any of the movies I've seen that he directed himself.
Like his own The Killing of a Chinese Bookie, it's practically a crime (har har) that it hasn't made the whole gangster genre obsolete.
