Review of Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates (2016) by Rachel G — 09 Jul 2016
Mike and Dave is a screwball comedy that shows Zac Efron and Adam DeVine being there best at making every scene funny as hell. They are brothers Michael (Devine) and David (Efron), who are constantly ruining every family event with their choices of trying to make it fun. After the montage that there father shows them, as they always wild each other up with stupid ideas. They both are suggested that they need to bring dates to there sisters wedding in Hawaii. They make an appearance on a talk show, announcing they are looking for nice respectable girls to be there dates. Which captures the attention from Tatiana (Aubrey Plaza) and Alice (Anna Kendrick), both dead beat girls.
Zac Efron and Adam DeVine are hilarious when they are together, from a stupid humor dialogue coming from the script. It works well, in keeping the humor in every scene. Adding Aubrey Plaza and Anna Kendrick was also funny with their take on raunchy humor. Aubrey Plaza, playing as Tatiana that hustles to get what she wants, and Anna Kendrick as Alice, a not so bright girl, who is having trouble letting go her past of a failed wedding, when she was left on the altar.
These type of movies, may not have a purpose for a plot, when every thing is set up concept wise for the casts to bicker at each other with jokes. Basically, setting the wedding in Hawaii, placing the cast in various situations, and a plot that is foreseeable like them ruining there sisters wedding plans and having to make up for it to make things right. Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates is a comedy film that does not have a purpose for a plot, only to set up the concept idea and having plenty of fun with it.
