Review of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie (1995) by Martin H — 07 Aug 2013
What to say about a the very first Power Rangers movie? Amusing? Utter Crap? A terrifically bad, but fun to watch? Well, let's start off by discussing the story of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers-The Movie.
The film's six heroes takes on an enemy who takes on revenge and want to conquer the world. This movie-even though it was released in the 90's- is VERY cliched. Everything you see in this film won't be all that confusing.
Most of the performances are pretty bland and generic. Though, the effects were pretty decent for 90's standards. The villain is known as Ivan Ooze, who by the way is the worst villain name I have EVER heard.
......EEEEEVVER. I do like the guy playing him though, he seems to be having fun with his role, even Zordon. Everyone else was just BORING or just plain generic. Let's now talk about the action fight scenes.
Each of these, it feels like I am watching the Adam West Batman show or a clone of George Clooney/Joel Shumacher"s Batman and Robin-where the hero shouts out a crap ton of shitty one liners. Seriously, each Ranger shouts out a crap one liner when either fighting an enemy or skydiving.
I am not kidding, they literally say one liner even before they jump out of a friggen airplane.....and it gets really annoying. Half the time, I expect them to say something stupid because I just know that they are going to.
I guess the movie was great when I was a kid, but seeing it now........time sure does fly.
