Review of Midnight's Children (2012) by Brigid B — 05 Jan 2013
A beautiful, moving, film which plunges us into the political turmoil of India since independence and moved along by the intense, engaging, at times funny human relationships , with brilliant acting.
I never got round to reading the original book but knowing that the writer, Salman Rushdie, both wrote the screenplay and narrates, makes you feel this must be close to the spirit of the book. This film engages, takes us out of our own petty western obsessions and reminds us of the richness of other cultures, despite conflict and adversity.
