Review of Midnight Run (1988) by Stephen C — 27 Mar 2008
Robert DeNiros first real shot at comedy and its a winner all the way .
Thanks to some neat interplay between him and the marvellous Charles Grodin thsi film is A vastly undrrrated gem from the Director of the 1st Beverly Hills Cop.
George Gallos script is full of crackling dialogue as the mismatched pair are forced to run for their lives from the F.B.I (A dry Yaphet Kotto) the Mafia (a Sweay Dennis Farina)and a rival Bounty Hunter (a brillaint John Ashton).
Add to that lots of great action and you get a film which deserves to go back on the Critical radar as an Action Comedy Gem.
