Review of Midnight Run (1988) by Simon M — 29 Aug 2008
Amazing stuff. This buddy film, delivers genius performances throughout from double acts. The two mafia henchmen 'hey, hop along cassidish', mafia mogul and laywer 'have a cream soda before I stick pencils in your eyes', the bail bondsmen 'this calls for a celebration, i'll get some doughnuts',the feds 'alonzo mosely fbi' and of course deniro and grodin 'i suffer from claustrophobia' 'if you don't shut up you're gonna suffer from fistophobio'.
John Ashton as the bumbling bounty hunter and jack walsh's rival who is constantly on the wrong end of verbal and physical abuse yet seems to think he is god's gift to the bounty hunting industry 'marvin look out' 'the name's carmine fucko'is amazing too.
This is funny, exciting and heart warming cinema, the kind of film you thought was impossible to make has been made and this is it.
