Review of Midnight Run (1988) by Brendan O — 26 Sep 2008
As Far As Mismatched Buddy Comedy Goes, Midnight Run is the Best. Perhaps, De Niro's best comedy in a engagingly well-written turn as a self-righteous ex-cop unpopular with almost everyone, he's encounters, but Charles Grodin's Duke , who perfectly casted as De Niro's likable, white-collar fugitive.
The two quickly display perfect odd-couple chemistry. Unlike a lot of comedies, Midnight Run has narrative staying power that keeps it chugging from start to finish.
