This is a competent '80s comedy that delivers - it's funny, has a decent plot, and features some respectable acting. It falls a little flat at some points and the humor level is often a bit subtle and not "in-your-face" - it's almost as if this movie can't decide whether it wants laughs or the kind of suspense reserved for a cop drama.
It's entertaining, though.
