Review of Midnight Run (1988) by Monsieur R — 29 Aug 2010
Good, humourous, fast movie about a former cop (DeNiro) turned bounty hunter. What was supposed to be an easy grab, an accountant (who stole from the mob to give to charity) turns out to be calamity for DeNiro. Everyone, the Mob, the FBI and another bounty hunter besides DeNiro is trying to get this accountant (Groden) or kill him.
The chase is a cross country airplanes, trains and automobiles story where a deal is struck between DeNiro and the FBI, who appear less than compentant.
Groden is great as a nosy, talkative accountant held hostage by DeNiro as they go from New York to California, with subtle humor along the way.
This is worth the watch, esp. if you like DeNiro.
