Review of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil (1997) by Dawnah W — 03 Feb 2009
This movie was very interesting and very thick in plot. It contained excellent acting performances from Spacey & Cusack and the directing by Eastwood was very spectacular. It had more up's than down's, but the downs that it did have were very heavy.
The story started off awesome, but ended up spiraling into a watered down pile of plot rubbish that almost makes you not really give a shit what the out come is. It seemed like the movie wasn't sure what direction it wanted to go toward sometimes.
It tends to lag a lot in certain areas, but over all 'Midnight' was a very well crafted movie with even a quite tolerable 'supernatural' element woven into it. worth checking out at least once.
Definitely one of the better Dinner Party Murder Mysteries that I have seen. Definitely better than Gosford Park.
