Review of Midnight in Paris (2011) by Hytham E — 04 Oct 2013

A true delight of a movie, one that really shows the workings of the creative mind. The direction was done really well, I must say. The writing was truly wonderful, and I never felt bored by any of it.

Owen Wilson was amazing as our lead, making it the best he's ever been as an actor in my book. I just really enjoyed every second of the movie, always wondering what is going to wind up happening next.

In many ways, it felt like Eyes Wide Shut, where the movie really felt like a dream, where while things may not always have an explanation, things seem like they don't need to. The movie lives in it's own creative, fantastic, spectacular world, and oh how I praise it for that.

Every actor did really well, and I was always looking forward to each new character that would be introduced, and what would happen in the end. The number of characters never felt overwhelming, and kept a good balance.

I would say that you should check it out, as it is definitely worth a viewing, especially with the Oscars rolling in. Not my pick for best picture, but it certainly was a really fun and entertaining one, which at least deserved the nod.

Really just an awesome movie.
