Review of Midnight in Paris (2011) by Valerie P — 11 Sep 2013
An academy award winning Woody Allen film, and It is truly fabulous to see the writer/director of the people getting his just deserts.
Allen is still brimming with ideas some forty years into his career. This film, with its time travel twist, reveals a side of Allen that hasn't been tapped too much before.
Now that Allen has begun to roam the globe and film outside of his beloved New York City, his creativity and insight seems limitless. Paris is magical through Allen's eyes. Owen Wilson is perfectly suited to the main character role of Gil, a hapless and romantic author. Gil's midnight visits to the Paris of the past, brimming with famous writers and other notables of bygone eras, help him to realize that he is not being true to himself or his destiny.
Pure magic.
