Review of Midnight in Paris (2011) by Tisch T — 29 Dec 2013
Being a writer, I was immediately taken in by the protagonist (an author) and his thirst for making his first novel. With the help of old famous writers such as Fitzgerald and TS Eliot, he manages to find magic in writing.
This film will bore regular audiences but will inspire and motivate authors, painters, and practically anyone seeking a career in the art industry. I loved this movie albeit the end was too abrupt for me.
Thank you Woody Allen for lending a spotlight to us authors. I have just made my own novel recently (still working on editing though) and I felt empowered by the dialogue and the advice each author gave to Owen Wilson's character.
The best part was that they portrayed authors as dreamers and that nobody (not even the girl you are about to marry) will ever understand that, but it's best kept that way. All in all this movie was entertaining and just inspirational for the artist in all of us.
