Review of Midnight in Paris (2011) by Daniel P — 06 Oct 2014
A film that is worth watching maybe once for those who are interested in writers of the Lost Generation and the belle epoque which this film tries to depict. It has an interesting idea at its core about the fantasies of a "Golden Age" and how we love to idealize the past with a kind of mythic ethos.
Other than that I think the film is overrated and I think many of those who laud this films merits enjoy it far much for its concept than the finished product. I don't think it did an outstanding job of embodying its elements.
I thought much of it was pretentious, artificial, I was annoyed by some of the acting and some of the simply bogus dialogue.
