Review of Midnight Express (1978) by Aaron N — 05 Apr 2008
It's an enthralling, powerful, and mostly well done film. There were a few issues I had though. First, I thought the Turkish should be subtitled to English, (maybe my fault on the DVD). Second, I was somewhat bewildered by Billy Hayes actions and I didn't see what was so bad about his treatment in prison, despite the Flixster review saying he "endured unthinkable brutality and torture.
" Because of this, I didn't think enough brutality was happening to him to justify his complete mental breakdown.
