Review of Midnight Express (1978) by Bryony P — 24 Mar 2012
Once again, a film tries to be a book. As gripping as the story is, as terifying as Billy's experiences were, as true as it all is, the book is so much better than the film. The film took a true story and romanticised it, throwing in scenes which never happened and are an insult to the book. The acting, while good in some instances, was not strong enough to convey the true friendships, animosity and emotion that was holding you throughout the book.
If you want to see this film, read the book first. You'll know what I mean.
