Review of Midnight Express (1978) by Stevie S — 07 Mar 2008
Midnight Express is a grossly underappreciated film. The performances alone make it a must-see! Even though it is based on a true story, certain elements (namely, the ending and the stereotypical sadist guards), are just not true. However, I don't think the film's inaccuracies take anything away from the emotional and rather haunting feeling it leaves you with. You must remember that it is a movie and not every single scene is going to be pouring out truth. Some things are seemingly going to be altered for the artistic vision of the filmmaker.
I personally loved Midnight Express! And Brad Davis was stellar! This is definitely his best work.
