Review of Midnight Express (1978) by Steve O — 04 Jul 2009
Once seen, never forgotten. An American, Billy Hayes, is sentenced to serve a lifetime Sentence in a Turkish prison after a failed attempt to smuggle Hashish out of the country. What follows is a descent into animal-like brutality and madness.
This is a truly devastating piece of cinema and Alan Parker's most powerful work. John Hurt and Randy Quaid both deliver excellent performances and Brad Davis is unforgettable as Billy Hayes.
