Review of Midnight Express (1978) by Vash T — 04 Apr 2010
A tender, heartbreaking, challenging, emotional, disturbing and human. Midnight Express is a genius film that explores Billy Hayes's life in a turkish prison for smuggling hash. This film shows how insanity can take over when you are at your weakest.
Alan Parker direction and Oliver Stone's script are nothing short of inceindiary. Brad Davis should have gotten an Oscar nomination for his brilliantly haunting performance. John Hurt is amazing as he always is.
Giogorio Moroder's score is pacing and brilliant. This film is nothing short of a classic. Midnight Express shows that the emotional confilcts that people can go through can make them stroger in the mean time.
Brilliant! ****.
