Review of Midnight Cowboy (1969) by Gareth D — 19 Jan 2009
Dusin Hoffman was incredible, but Jon Voight's performance didn't feel authentic to me. There's a lot of symbolism in this film that I think works well, and the directing of the nightmares/flashbacks are pretty incredible.
The only thing that in my opinion felt out of place was the Warhol-party which slows the film down and could've easily been edited out. Lastly, I didn't feel that there was any kind of fruition of Voight's character; instead we're left with a kind of hopelessness.
