Review of Midnight Cowboy (1969) by Juli R — 23 Apr 2010
Just got around to watching this controversial classic. (It's embarrassing to admit I had never even heard of it.) Jon Voight reminds me of his daughter (Angelina Jolie) in his role as the naive male prostitute.
Dustin Hoffman plays an earlier version of Rainman as the sick friend. The story is a sad commentary on social decline. The "mod" party scene and stylistic dream sequences date the film. In some ways, this film is like a 60s version of My Own Private Idaho.
