What a dismal, pointless sack of shit film. This is one of those so-called "classics" that critics get caught up hailing for performances and ignoring everything else about. There is nothing to enjoy about a story like "Midnight Cowboy", watching hopelessness unfold one frame at a time with no depth or symbolism is not my idea of a worthwhile movie-going experience.
