Review of Midnight Cowboy (1969) by Jerico T — 25 May 2013
The First X rated Best Picture, is simply astounding , its a testament to friendship. Jon Voight plays Joe Buck a man who decides that he wants to be a stud so he goes to New York City in order to meet rich women, get lucky, and get paid for getting lucky.
He then realizes that life has its situations where the world can be a truly disgusting place and he starts to see evil in people. Then he meets Ratso Rizzo (Dustin Hoffman) a man with a limp and a horrible cough, who only after he steals money from Joe offers to let him stay with him in a condemned building that he calls home.
The film really on a grand epic scale has moments that can have it moments where it will grab your heart and shake it. This film is really a tearjerker. This film deserved the Academy Awards that it got for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay, But Jon Voight was truly robbed for Best Actor that year.
This film with There Will Be Blood, and Avatar are tied for my favorite movies of all time.
