Review of Midnight Cowboy (1969) by Andrew R — 04 Oct 2014
The grass is always greener on the other side (of the country). Voight's Joe Buck "cowboy" is dripping with insecure machismo, but he finds his stride and pathos with Hoffman's disintegrating Ratso.
Both are stuck in the other "American Dream" of New York City promises, and end up being archetypes of America's disenchantment with itself, at the cost of not doing anything about it.
