This is the only "X" rated film to win an Oscar, but it is hardly that rating today. It is a very depressing drama but has two outstanding performances. Dustin Hoffman is amazing as Ratso Rizzo, and Jon Voight is terrific in a star making role.
Riveting direction. Gritty and believable.
