Review of Midnight Cowboy (1969) by Daniel T — 04 Sep 2009
A moving look at life in the suburbs, "Midnight Cowboy" is an unflinchingly depressing tale of two men struggling to make a living. Jon Voight gives a fantastic performance as Joe Buck, though at times he almsot has too much screen time.
Dustin Hoffman plays Ratso, a character who despite having lesser screen time than Buck is just as memorable and interesting. At time the film seems to drag its feet a bit, and this is mainly due to the fact that this is a film driven by character rather than plot.
Director John Schlesinger brings a unique, down-to-earth look to the film that is as horrifying as it is repulsive.
